Job Title: Morning Prep Cook
Reports To: Kitchen Manager / Head Chef
Schedule: Early Morning Shift (typically between 5:00 AM and 3:00 PM, varies by seasonality)

Position Summary

The Morning Prep Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients and food items required for daily kitchen operations. This role ensures all foods are prepared according to recipes, quality standards, food safety guidelines, and production schedules before service begins. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time and prepared for the morning shift.
  • Prepare ingredients including washing, cutting, peeling, slicing, and portioning fruits, vegetables, meats, and other food items.
  • Follow standardized recipes and production sheets.
  • Prepare sauces, soups, dressings, batters, and other menu components.
  • Stock and organize prep stations, coolers, and storage areas.
  • Label, date, and properly store all prepared products.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of shortages.
  • Receive and properly store deliveries when needed.
  • Assist line cooks and kitchen staff with additional food preparation tasks.
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Minimize food waste and practice proper food handling procedures.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Previous restaurant, kitchen, or food preparation experience preferred.
  • Basic knife skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Reliable transportation and attendance record.
