Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Weekend availability is required, including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Tartine Bakery is growing again, and we are excited to bring our celebrated bakery and café experience to Encino. As we expand our Los Angeles presence, we are looking for an experienced, hands-on Sous Chef to join the opening culinary team and help set the standard for exceptional food, thoughtful hospitality, and operational excellence.

This is an opportunity to build something new with a respected, growth-minded hospitality brand. The Sous Chef will work closely with the kitchen leadership team to support daily operations, develop and guide team members, uphold Tartine’s quality standards, and deliver an outstanding guest experience from day one.

What You’ll Do

– Support and lead daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
– Prepare, cook, and plate menu items with consistent attention to quality, flavor, timing, and presentation.
– Lead by example on the line while coaching, training, and supporting kitchen team members.
– Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient kitchen.
– Partner with leadership on menu execution, product quality, workflow improvements, and team development.
– Ensure all food-safety, sanitation, health-department, and company standards are consistently followed.
– Help create a positive, collaborative workplace where culinary craftsmanship and hospitality come first.

What We’re Looking For

– At least 5 years of professional kitchen experience, including prior leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
– Strong cooking fundamentals, kitchen operations knowledge, and a sharp eye for detail.
– A confident, respectful communicator who can motivate and develop a team.
– Ability to remain organized, calm, and solution-oriented during busy service periods.
– Commitment to food quality, cleanliness, consistency, and guest experience.
– Flexible availability, including required weekend shifts.
Bilingual Spanish is helpful
– Experience with New Restaurant Openings

Timekeeping and Scheduling

Team members are expected to accurately clock in and out for every shift, record required meal and rest periods, and promptly report missed punches or timekeeping concerns to management. Employees should review posted schedules, obtain approval before changing shifts or working additional hours, and submit paid or unpaid time-off requests through the company’s HR/payroll system.

All work performed, including approved off-site work such as emails, must be accurately recorded using the appropriate time-clock correction process.
